The GT4 Coupe offers a choice of three engines and an option for 4 or 5 seats
Mercedes-AMG has officially shown its new model, called GT 4-Door Coupe. The car that debuted at the Geneva saloon will fight for buyers with the Porsche Panamera. Sales start in the summer, but it is not yet clear on which markets.

The engine range consists of two V8 gasoline engines and a hybrid system. The latter combines a V5 turbocharger with a power of 435 hp. and 520 Nm of torque, a 9-speed automatic transmission and an electric motor that provides 22 hp. and 250 Nm.

The two V8 engines are fitted with twin-scroll turbines and a system for shutting off a part of the cylinders at a low load, ie. when not all power is needed. Their maximum power is 585 (800 Nm) and 639 (900 Nm) hp. Both are combined with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The more powerful version accelerates from 100 km / h in 3.2 seconds and its maximum speed is 315 km / h. The other figures are 3.4 seconds and 310 km / h respectively.

All versions of the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe are equipped with the four-wheel drive system 4Matic +, which debuted on the latest generation of the Mercedes-AMG E 63 sedan. The multi-disc coupling with electronic control . This, as well as the stabilizer system, may be forced to be disconnected in drift mode.

The hybrid modification is fitted with a spring suspension with active shock absorbers. Suspension in the other two versions is air. The new Mercedes-AMG model also has hollow stabilizers for transverse stability.

Variants with V8 are available as standard and with a full chassis. At a speed of up to 100 km / h, the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the front, which reduces the radius of the curve. If the vehicle moves more than 100 km / h, the rear axle wheels turn in the same direction as the front wheels. For the hybrid version, this system is available as an option. With the most powerful modification with 639 hp. standard rear-wheel lock with electronic control. For the other two versions it is available for a surcharge.

The body of the Mercedes-AMG GT is made of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic. An aerodynamic package is available for the model, which includes, for example, a rear spoiler with manual adjustment. The car maker notes that this element allows to increase the thrust on the rear axle but in no way affects the drag.

The car is also equipped with active aerodynamic elements. Like the lamellas in the radiator grille, which change their position with the help of electric motors. This is done to optimize the air flow or to supply additional air to cool the engine

The equipment list for the Mercedes-AMG GT also includes carbon brakes, a digital dashboard, a changeover system for the control electronics and recording telemetry, a new steering wheel with touch panels and built-in screens, and a partially autonomous control system.

The model can be ordered with five or four seats (two separate seats are fitted at the rear). The volume of the trunk is 395 liters, another 60 is under the false floor. With the rear seats folded, space increases to 1324 l. The boot door is equipped with an electric drive. It can be activated by pushing a foot close to the sensor mounted under the bumper.
