Importance Of Goals In Your Life !!

 

Is setting a goal in your life important?

Just imagine you are going on a road and you come to a place where it divides into three further roads. If you do not know about your destination is then any road will take you anywhere!

A ship manned by a captain having a clear map and goal will reach its destination 99 out of 100 times. Now imagine a ship started from the harbor and is allowed to sail without any map, captain or any destination programmed, I believe you will agree with me that this ship can't reach the desired destination.

Ask yourself - would you sit in a train or a plane without knowing where it was going? Obvious no! Then do check out - do you have clear goals? Do you really control your life? Or you lead a life as defined by others to enrich them and not YOU!

Goals are indeed important in your life. Goals will give you a sense of direction and will bring a sense of accountability in you. If you do not have a habit of defining and putting it in writing, then do begin today. Remember your efforts and enthusiasm without direction will soon lead you to frustration and lack of confidence. Later comes with unnoticeable repeat efforts that you put in daily.

Free up your mind and set very high goals to match your dreams and motivates you to attain the same. Your goals should be high enough to push you to the edge of your comfort zone and keep you awake! People often make a mistake of setting up very small goals or lowers their expectation.

Next, daily look up at your goal number of times and start putting in efforts and time in those activities that push you closer to your goals every day, no matter how small is the progress.

One day you will realize that your life became more organized and better habits developed that led you to achieve your goal which appeared miles away when you began. More importantly, you will find a better version of yourself when you look back in your life. You will certainly have better control of your life.

It might happen, inspite of clear goals and your efforts, results may be unfavorable or results you may get from another source that you never aimed for. Goals will keep you focused on a specific path to success. With technology at hand, you are continuously overloaded with glittering information that may distract you from your path. It is important, one should not lose sight of his / her goals and continually take small steps to inch closer day by day.

Remember consistency overrides competence. How soon your success comes your way, will depend upon how focused, consistent and committed you were inspite of repeat failures, distractions, rejections during your daily efforts leading to your goals.

Once you have clear sight of your goals and the path, you are sure that will lead you to your goal, then focused approach, commitment and consistency of small inconsequential efforts you put in daily will take you to your goal.

Do not to compare with others! You are unique. You have your own strengths. Realize your potential. You are not what others define you or have an opinion about you. You are much beyond what others think and Your best is yet to come! So, just compare with yourself each day to improve your progress and your Goals will bring a sense of accountability to yourself.

Ask yourself - would you ever set a goal to get poorer or to become less healthy? Obviously No. Then probe yourself - what is it keeping you away from setting goals for yourself in your life that makes you a better person with an abundance of what you always dreamed of?
