Bridge Inspector
This my friend from the Northern Virginia music scene, at the East River in NYC. Besides playing a mean sax and flute, she is also a structural design engineer and diver. I have always thought this was a really cool job!

She checks the structural stability of piers, bridges, sea walls, and other structures, looking for defects and deterioration. She then gives recommendations for designing repairs and rehabilitation.

On dives, they use surface-supplied air from a compressor, with a large backup tank. They also carry a SCUBA tank for serious last-resort situations, though thankfully she has yet to encounter such dangers in her decade of doing this work.
Osprey Nest near Baltimore
Her crew had to set up a new light, so as not to disturb the eggs. They encounter plenty of wildlife doing this job like when beavers were causing bridges to flood in on the Chattahoochee River in Georgia.

That is a really cool job. It's one of those jobs you dont really think of but it's a good thing there are people to do it. It would be difficult to recognize required repairs in bridges and underwater structures otherwise. Very cool photos as well!

Wow, that is pretty impressive. I don't think I could do the climbing and heights part, but the diving might be kind of fun! The pictures from Scranton are awesome. Nice post!
