Basement to wood shop conversion post 4 (Update)steemCreated with Sketch.

in #carpentry7 years ago

Greetings!
Things have slowed down a bit here. I had to clean up a bit to make room to move around. I wish this wood shop could be housed in a 16’x30’ shed but that is a bit out of my price range of 7k USD for the moment. It would make things so much easier. I am a night owl from working 3rd shift most of my adult life, so working on this basement is interfering with the rest of the families sleep habits. I spend most of the night looking through my followers content then working on the basement at 7am until I am tired.

I have been working on the wall tool storage rack were all my wood working hand tools will be stored. This will cover the same distance along the wall that the tables do. Two seven foot sections with the french cleat storage system. I am using a metal bracket that use to be for shelving to keep the wood tool rack from touching the concrete wall. Hopefully eliminating potential moisture and mold growth. The space under the tables will have drawer or shelf storage. I am debating whether or not to add a wood workers bench vise to the miter station tables. In particular the left table.

Since the basement has a somewhat high humidity, all the wood will be finished in a few coats of polyurethane to help eliminate potential mold growth. This should also give the shop a more completed look and feel. There is a dehumidifier running in the basement to help remove the humidity in the air.

I am thinking of putting my logo in the middle above the saw for when I get a video camera to start making videos for steemQ. First I need a logo though. lol Oh! And a video camera! Hmm … Should I hold a logo contest? How long should this contest be for? A 7 day week? Maybe two weeks! One week for entries and a second week for you to vote on them? The winner would get the amount the two contest posts brings in and an honorable mention at the bottom of all my posts? Let me know in the comments below, I need feedback.

The logo would be used for branding the wood shop so the submitted logo would need to come with an unrestricted and propitiatory use license from the creator. Uses are as a watermark in videos and photos, made into a branding iron for a touch makers mark to mark products, and for website graphics for the wood shop. Transparent background, black, yellow and tan coloring for the logo? I was thinking “The carpenterbee Wood works” or “The carpenterbee wood works & honey” for the name of the shop. If anyone would like to offer a name for the wood shop then I am open to suggestions. The name of the shop should reflect what the business is about. (carpentry & beekeeping)

See I can’t draw and I come up with lame business names lol. Oh well any help the steemit community can offer is greatly appreciated. Maybe we could have two contests! One contest to name the shop and one contest for the logo! What do you think? I need to know. Is it lame? Or a good idea? Bad idea?

Looks awesome! I love how I just randomly saw your new post! I am also doing posts on carpentry as part of my blog. I put them under THE BUILD section. I just gave you a 100% upvote and will be following. I think its important we share our work and projects here. It is a great place for people to learn how to do a lot of this stuff. Great job so far! I just bought a 70 year old house and will be steeming the transformation. Also sharing the new house me and my boss are building. It will be His house. And my Aistream reno that is another work on progress! Check it out if you'd like. I gotta get a badge made! Those are sweet. I come from generations of beekeepers as well but have not done it myself! I do have a taste for Mead though ;) steem on @carpenterbee.

Excellent! Nice to see more carpenters here on steemit. We need more people here that have the old time vocational skills so we do not loose them to history. Cool! My carpentry is more focused around furniture and cabinets. In my younger years I was a ruff framer and roofer. mostly self employed. I look forward to reading your posts! What year of an air stream? Other then the shiny bare aluminum they are pretty good trailers. I have to say honey bees are the most amazing creatures. I am setting up a hive in my back yard this summer mainly for the honey and bees wax. Carpentry and beekeeping are great together, it keeps equipment costs down lol. I will have to try making mead sometime though, sounds like another interesting side adventure. @daddykirbs is the one that makes the badges he charges $1 SBD each. I am sure he would not mind making you one.

I am going to check out your posts and give a follow. Thank you for your generous vote! and follow. Steem On!

Cool! Just added my 1st blog on a little tiny carpentry project. I'll be adding a few more but I'm glad I'm not alone in Steem. Look forward to seeing more posts from you!

Welcome to steemit!
