LS, who doesn't know these..

If you're a petrolhead whether a newcomer or a diehard would understand the trend of swapping an engine of  ones vehicle with another engine.. Yes, we're talking about that crate engine, Of course with growing practice of swapping engines these days, one of the most used motors for the swap program is Chevy's best selling, small block LS series V8 engine. Like what the hell is LS engine? that's what I'm about to discuss it as fast as possible with a trusty source of course.

How is it even started? 

Well, but first we need to look back further than the LT, but yeah it will be explained along the way hence the title we're talking about the LS and its history. Back in 1902 the first patent on the first configuration known as the Vee-eight to be the first to be build, the so-called Antoinette V8 was installed in various aircraft and speedboats. A year after the first-ever V8 engine came into the world, Rolls-Royce developed a 3,535 cc (216 cu.in) V8 powerplant. Only three cars were equipped with this eight-cylinder lup before the British luxury manufacturer reverted to a straight six design.


All told, Cadillac was the first automaker to mass-produce the V8 engine. Introduced in 1914, the Cadillac Type 51 L-head V8 produced 70 horsepower from a displacement of 5.15 liters (314 cu.in). But then again, Cadillac didn't make the V8 popular. Its even their thing I guess, But it was Ford who did that when the introduction of V8 engines lineup. 



'Wow, I came here to learn it as brief as possible, man you got it twisty and complicated' dude, bare with me, this was the briefest history of LS engine and how it all started, it doesn't hurt anybody with a bits of a knowledge right? well except a long-tiring reading of this history DD: bur bare with me, its all make sense in the end, its good for a newer generation of petrolhead


Continuing on the saga, by the 1950s, the V8 became the most popular engine choice in the United States, with the height of their popularity being in the 1970s, right before the oil crisis came in the scene.. To this day, motors with the eight cylinders arranged in a V are the go-to config for most domestic everyday automobiles.

From all the V8s that were bestowed upon the years and so on, some of the most important designs come in the form of the GM LS Generation III and IV small block V8 engines. It might have started life as a clean sheet design, but the creators of the GM LS engine family didn't ignore the historical importance and timeless appeal of the classic small-block V8. Yeah you can see it clearly from here and goes on, General Motors then introduced the LS series in then-new 1997 Corvette and mostly know from C5, its unbelievable there's like 2 other big company that we mostly known from late 2000s are take part in this history, its just so American haha.

Nice! I'm really not much of a gear head but I have a good friend who is and he recently introduced me to Rat Rods! I think this beauty has your LS engine in it (but I could be way WAY wrong)

LS has it owns uniqueness, yeah, although I remain both side of western engineering and Japanese engineering too hhhh
