KL International Motor Show 2018

in #cars5 years ago (edited)

KL International Motor Show (KLIMS) makes a comeback after 5 years since the last showing in Malaysia, this time hosted at MITEC Kuala Lumpur. For the uninitiated, KLIMS is perhaps the largest auto show in malaysia where various car manufacturers and aftermarket dealers showcase their latest and greatest.

I went to the event 3 days ago, here are some pictures of the cars that were present. I won't be posting pictures of every single car there else this would be an extremely long post. Instead I'll just be posting cars that are rare or simply not sold in Malaysia currently, with some brief comments or explanation.

Honda is one of the largest exhibitor this year, so of course the halo-car of every hot-hatch lover - the Honda Civic Type R, would be present.

Another vehicle of interest in the Honda booth is the Honda Clarity, a hydrogen fuel cell-powered car.

At the Toyota booth, the FT1 or rumoured new Supra concept car is certainly turning heads.

A little less glamorous, right next to the FT1 is the little Toyota i-Road personal mobility concept.

Of course, next to the Toyota booth is Lexus, displaying the LC500 in all it's RM1.2million glory, among others.

Never known for producing sporty cars, Perodua seeks to make a statement in the contrary with this Myvi GT concept car.

It's the standard fare at the Proton booth, except now they brought 5 samples of the upcoming and much-hyped Proton X70, the first Proton-Geely collaboration.

In the KIA corner, nothing makes petrolheads salivate more than the KIA Stinger GT. It is as beautiful as it is savage on the road.

I personally have little interest in French cars, but the Peugeot 308 GTi demands to be respected, deservedly so. As far as I know, this car is flying off of the shelves as quickly as they are brought in.

The manly Ford Mustang GT, the only non-commercial car left in Ford Malaysia's stable.

The Hyundai i30N is a curiousity, and one of the main reasons I came. The purported GTi fighter looks the part and if the internet is to be believed, would give VW a run for it's money.

Hyundai has been showing off some models that were never sold here, perhaps testing the market to see if anyone would actually buy them. The Kona is one such car.

Will the Hyundai Accent make a return to our shores. Will Hyundai join in the hotly contested B-segment market?

KLIMS 2018 started on the 23rd of November 2018, and is currently still happening as of the time of this writing. The event will end on the 2nd of December 2018. It is being held at the  Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur. Adult ticket prices are RM20 on weekdays and RM25 on weekends. Parking at MITEC costs RM15 per entry.

Thanks for bringing me to a virtual tour in the KLIMS. The Toyota i-Road is such a big contrast to all the other cars in your photo.

I know right, the i-Road is such a curious little thing.

Here's something that is even more different than the others.....Honda shopping trolleys. Just don't ask me what's the deal with it, I have no idea haha :D

Huh? OK... I swallow back my question...
