History of the Allard J2-X
The J2 was a sports roadster produced between 1950 and 1951 by Allard, London based car manufacturer founded in 1945. In 1952, Allard started the production of the J2X in order to improve handling and to have a better weight distribution. The X stands for extended because there are more espace for the driver's legs.
We can't speak about Allard without speak of the British racing driver Sydney Allard, the founder of the company. He started in the years 30's to build car based on Ford parts. After the WWII, with all the engines and parts left, he created a two seater sports car with American V8 engine.
Technical specification
This model Little Red (chassis 3142), has an Oldsmobile 394 cu inline V8 engine with four speed transmission for a top speed 185 kmh. The Allard J2X can reach 100 kmh in 10 seconds.
Little Red was restored between 2006 and 2009 for $US 74,000 with more comfortable seat cushions and also Jaguar rear wheels to tame its massive horsepower.
