BMW I8

BMW i8 - hybrid sports car produced by the German BMW brand from April 2014 in Leipzig. The first concept of the vehicle was presented under the BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics name at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. The production version was presented four years later. In 2012, the roadster under the name i8 Spyder was presented in Beijing.

The vehicle was built based on the LifeDrive architecture, which was created especially for BMW vehicles, thanks to which the weight distribution of the vehicle is 50/50. The vehicle uses modern technology thanks to which it has a low vehicle weight and low combustion level. The body of the car has modern shapes with a very long, low-running engine cover with an aggressive front belt and a characteristic grille cooler and is very aerodynamic. The coefficient of air resistance is 0.26. The interior of the vehicle is made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic. The car is the first mass-produced car in the world equipped with chemically reinforced glass and laser reflectors.

On April 2, 2015, at an automotive showroom in New York, it was announced that the BMW i8 won the prestigious title of World Green Car of the Year 2015.

The electric motor of the vehicle together with the transmission and power conversion circuits was placed close to the electrically driven front axle. At the back there is a supercharged gasoline engine with transmission and its power is directed backwards. The lithium-ion battery is centrally located and placed in an aluminum housing. The 1.5-liter internal combustion engine is equipped with TwinPower Turbo technology, thanks to which it has 231 hp and 320 Nm of maximum torque. The electric motor has 131 hp and 320 Nm of torque. The total power of the vehicle is 362 hp and 570 Nm. An electric motor can support a gasoline unit, but also drive a vehicle. Then the range of the car is up to 35 km, and the maximum speed is limited to 120 km / h. The rear wheels of the car are driven by a 6-speed automatic transmission while the front wheels are driven by a two-stage automatic transmission. Using the gearbox in the vehicle, you can select the driving mode D and Sport. Sport mode offers a manual, sequential selection of gears and changes the vehicle and suspension settings for a very sporty ride.

The standard vehicle equipment includes electric window control, electrical mirror control, 20-inch forged aluminum wheels, Dynamic Damper Control system, Driving Expirience Control Switch system located in the center console (two modes are available when the system is started: COMFORT AND ECO PRO , sports mode available after switching the shift stick to manual mode), partly leather upholstery, active suspension, electric adjustment of the front seats, automatic climate control, 8.8 inch satellite navigation display with a 20 GB hard drive.

Optionally, the vehicle can be equipped with in HUD display, Harman Kardon sound system and emergency braking assistant.
