A little bit of the nip

In the winter I planted a couple of catnip seeds. Then the package got wet, so I planted all of them.

(The three in the large centre pot were the originals. The rest was just sprinkled with wet seeds.)

The package was 450 seeds, but probably only 250 sprouted. I just pulled up a bunch and gave them to the cats as we went along. It had to be thinned out quite a bit.

(We had to harvest a few times before spring. It got out of hand.)

Luckily we got this industrial dehydrator last summer. It has come in handy a few times.

(It's a Crawford Kitchen, and we are quite happy with it.)

So we had a lot of gifts for any of our friends that happened to be blessed with kitties in their lives, whenever they came around. We also had a bunch to plant outside for the cats to enjoy as they saw fit. I had to keep a few caged up because they would chew them off at the stubs if you didn't. Every once in a while we will tear off a chunk and let them get high in the wilderness. This is one of those times.

We have learned from experience not to get too close with the nip or you will leave with puncture wounds. They are not afraid to cut a bitch.
