Cat Eye Health III

in #cats5 years ago

Eye infections are often treatable with prescription medication, this may come in the form of oral ingestion or eye drops, the latter most common to help provide immediate relief and treatment. At times however, there may be a deeper cause for illness to be recognised as chronic and this may affect the cat on a long term basis.

Corneal ulcers are sores that left bare from infections or physical injuries around the eye area. This type of injury should be treated as soon as possible so that new healthy tissue may heal itself. In some cases this does not happen and non-living tissue cells may fill this void, causing long term eye health issues. This can develop into visible damage around the eye area and permanent blindness. As an owner, it is important to maintain a regular check of a cat’s eye health to identity if anything is amiss.
