Grass has a few good things for your cat such as folic acid, a vitamin that helps them increase their oxygen levels in their blood. If you find your cat grazing, then it might be because of some dietary deficiency and they are looking for a boost.

In addition to this vitamin boost, grass also helps with the digestive tracts which are often clogged with fur. Broad grasses have a laxative effect while the narrow grasses help settle upset stomachs.

Cats don't have the enzymes required to digest a diet of entirely grass and thus they often vomit after eating it. This is not something to be alarmed at as your cat vomits voluntarily to clear their stomach of fur, feathers, parasites or bones.

Cats are extremely good at self regulating the amount of grass they can eat, but they are not very good at knowing what kinds of grass pose dangers to them. This is especially true if the grass has been treated with pesticides or fertilisers. You must endeavour to keep your cat away from dangerous grass and even consider buying some wheat or oat grass kits to grow in your own home instead.
