Cat Revival and Rescue

There comes a time when an owner is faced with dire situations as a cat is plunged into life threatening situations. A cat that sustained heavy injury may enter a state that may seem fatal, all is not lost however. Resuscitation can bring a cat back from the brink of death if delivered in a timely manner. Searching for a faint pulse is important and can be done through placing fingers around the armpit of a cat. A lack of pulse can indicate death altogether but all hope is not lost, following the resuscitation procedure will give the last fighting chance a cat can have. Gently rubbing the chest in a vertical motion, up and down while holding its head back will help to restart its pulse. This is particularly common in weak kittens. Never give up on a seemingly dire situation and the miracle of life may return with enough diligence.

Just as humans, cats can suffer from cardiovascular conditions that lead to a heart attack. There are many types of attacks but the responses will be similar. Positioning the cat is key and applying the massage will help circulation in an effort to revive the little feline friend. Regular check-ups should be conducted and in some cases, heart conditions are hereditary and must be monitored closely with regular inspection from a vet. Ongoing medicine may be prescribed for the cat.

Cats love exploring their surrounding and will gnaw on anything, just for the fun of it. There may be a time when a cat will chew through dangerous items around the house, in particular electrical wiring is a cause of for concern. The resulting electric shock may paralyse and cause severe damage to the jaw area. As with any electric shock victim, eliminating the power supply is important and immediate emergency advice sought from a vet is require before taking action. There is a great risk for the cat in this dilemma but this could easily effect an owner too.

Cats are also very curious when they see critters or fish swimming along in pools of water. They will approach without fear and perhaps be unaware of the risks of actually falling in. This sometimes results in a panic that leads to drowning. Even outside of a water stream, an excess intake of water that fills the lungs can cause a cat to suffer from drowning. To remedy this situation swiftly, a firm pat on the back of the cat will help bring the liquid back up through the oesophagus. In some cases however this will not suffice. Extreme measures are required and it has been seen that firmly grasping a cat by its back legs and employing a swinging motion will help to remedy drowning, a swinging rescue!

It's good to know all the possible ways we can help our furry creatures, when they get in trouble. As the saying goes "Curiosity killed the cat," but a little wisdom can help us prevent the "death part."
