More Breeding Genetics and Patterns II

in #cats5 years ago

While the Tabby patterning is seen across many genetic pools there are other genetic combinations that breeders will delve into to realise additional features not seen in many litters. For some this may even come as an unexpected feat if they had not been aware of various dormant genes in the genetic pool.

While the all black gene can see some cats maintain a solid composition all over, there is also the presence of a dominant white gene in some pools. This is responsible for the solid white coat that some may think of. The presence of the white gene is an interesting feat as it often dictates the eye colouring of the cat too. White cats are often accompanied by blue coloured eyes but there are some caveats when producing eyes that are different colours.
