Pregnancy Care Continued I

Caring for a queen during her pregnancy phase is an intensive yet rewarding experience. First time queens will begin to establish a closer bond with their carer as they become increasingly reliant on the support they receive. As a breeder, a trusting relationship should have been already established when nurturing the young kitten into a capable queen. The bond is further developed and strengthened during the pregnancy phase. Being observant and prepared is crucial during pregnancy as the queen will often give notable signals indicating needs or issues it is facing. Responding to these call of attention will instil further confidence and avoid hardship during the two months that it grows and carries its litter.

The physical appearance of the queen will begin to transform after around of month of pregnancy. The most notable physical change will be in the way of visible distention in the abdomen region. Similar to humans, a bulge or visible curvature will be seen alongside its protruding nipples that would have become bright pink in colour. Aside from the physical transformation of the queen, the embryo of the kittens will also have started to develop in this period.
