The Showing Personality III

in #cats5 years ago

Exposing a cat to strangers and slightly busier spaces will help discover its comfort and general attitude towards a similar showing environment. If it’s obvious that a cat is extremely shy or displays signs of fear and discomfort it may not be possible to make an entry at all. Not all cats possess the personality that allows them to shine during a cat show. If they are forced to endure a day or multiple days of showing there may be long term detrimental effects in the wellbeing of the Cat. This is a serious matter that a breeder should consider before committing to an entry.

If there is still uncertainty as to whether a cat is suitable for showing, attendance of a smaller local show may be an option. This will help to establish whether a cat enjoys being part of an exhibition without extended periods of imposed exposure. Local events are often smaller in scale and a cat may be able to show signs of enjoyment as it meets new people in a unique environment. Keeping a cat happy should be priority and it’s an important decision in a breeders showing career.
