Researchers In Colorado Investigating Benefits of CBD On Pets For Treatment of Arthritis and Epilepsy

in #cbd7 years ago

Despite many lawmakers, law enforcement officials, health professionals, and others, who still insist that there is no benefit that can come from cannabis, and insisting that people should stay away or look for remedy in other places, there are millions of people using it on a regular basis for remedy to a variety of illnesses.

All throughout the US and in many other areas around the world, there has been a strong civil disobedience movement surrounding cannabis and now there are many states that have accepted it for either medical or recreational purposes.

An Option For Pets?

But it isn't only people who are looking to cannabis for help, they are also looking to see if it might help their pets as well. And researchers in Colorado, from Colorado State University (CSU), have been busy studying the relationship between animals and CBD-- a compound that's found in cannabis.

Though there are items out there that do contain both CBD and THC combined, there is also the option for only CBD; which would have non-psychoactive effects. And researchers in Colorado are seeing how CBD (with low amounts of THC), would work specifically for arthritis and epilepsy in pets.

Researchers say that they still need to learn more about the effects of CBD. But despite the ongoing research efforts, there are many CBD-related pet products that are available today on the market and many pet owners insist that they have seen an improvement after opting to use CBD for their pet.

A New Option For Pets...

Veterinarians have also signaled their interest to learn more about the potential to use cannabis or CBD to help pets seek relief from a variety of illnesses. And there are allegedly quite a few veterinarians out there already today who are prescribing CBD products to pets that contain a very low dose of THC.

Many pet owners have gone to the research lab at CSU, seeking some help for their animals, hoping that they would be able to find something that could offer remedy for their pets illness.

The study still looks to be ongoing at CSU and just a few months ago they were still looking for volunteer pets to the program, they might still be looking for volunteers at this time. Despite research efforts still being conducted, pet owners insist that they have already seen an improvement and that they stand by using CBD for their pets.

This research is important in many ways. It is obvious cannabis oil is very benefical, but this research also rules out placebo effect. Dogs don't just believe it ;)

Peace in Blunts Fam 🔥💨

I have seen multiple videos showing the before and after effects when a dog is given CBD for seizures. Works just as well on dogs as it does for us. One of the best medicinal plants hands down!

Awesome article ! In fact, if CBD is good for human pain, why not for our beautiful pets ?
I hope one day in France medecical cannabis (and at the long time recreatif too) will be legalise !
Thanks for this work !

I think the effects of the CBD on marijuana are completely medicinal and have helped many people around the world. The fact of using some of the substances of cannabis that help the relaxation in animals that are at risk seems to me great. Moreover, in the case that alleviates what I believe, would completely deny the fact that many radicals say that as these drugged is not more than a placebo effect the relief generated by cannabis, while consuming more concentration of CBD than THC is the psychoactive part, it is completely medicinal. Thanks for sharing, happy day.

That's a super cute dog!

Proof is there.

And don't get me started on the multiple videos with people who have Parkinsons, Alzheimers, seizures, the effects are undeniable.

We don't need Science to observe the results!

I know that the large majority of people on Steemit are against regulation (thus why we are into cryptocurrency), but I still don't understand why lawmakers are so against cannabis, at least in medicine. There has probably been more research and studies over the years than many other prescription painkillers and antidepressants. Many of these prescriptions are still not completely understood on how they work (just read about almost any SSRI or MAOI and you'll see "it is thought to work by...", but researchers have no definite reasoning). I'm not for the government always getting their piece of the pie, but come on...this is almost a no-brainer...you want the black/grey market to keep getting 100% of the income? Just sayin...

Simply put lawmakers are against cannabis regulation in large part due to the lobbying of Big Pharma. Marijuana had the potential to completely destroy the Big Pharma industry [due to effectiveness of cannabis], and therefore the entire US healthcare system. There is also the confusion of where to draw the line concerning recreational use and medicinal use, and how to incorporate it's usage into the existing regulatory framework. So for now, it is unfortunately still in the best financial interests of those involved in the current pharmaceutical ecosystem to limit and control access to marijuana. That being said, they really should take it off Schedule One Drugs.

Hello my dear friend!)) Many thanks for the interesting article. I did not hear about such things. Now I know. I can say that you need to try everything that can help you from illnesses. It's terrible and painful to see how many people and animals die in the whole world.

a very funny dog, thanks for the information, I really like it @doitvoluntarily
