And many of the worlds leading mass media channels featured them on their channels or in their printed media. Yet, we ran into some surprising issues during this review.

This looks all rather positive and they say they are committed to the highest standards in the industry. Yet, when we requested the terpene profile of their 3600 mg Hemp Oil Tincture, they replied that "Unfortunately, the terpene profiles are not available for public viewing".

Pharmaceutical-grade Testing

You also must have noticed that almost all CBD retailers do third-party testing. Cannabinoid potency testing and testing for contaminants have become more or less the industry standard.

Cannabinoid Profile Elixinol Hemp Extract 3600 mg

Full Spectrum means the CBD oil also contains other cannabinoids like THC, CBC, CBG, CBN, CBDV, CBDa, etc. This enhances the health benefits of this great food supplement. However, the test certificates posted on Elixinols website contain NO other cannabinoids besides CBD and a rather small micro-fraction of THC.

Elixinol has a renowned reputation on the CBD market, so we had to double check it. We, therefore, contacted their customer service department and asked if we could get a lab report. The lab report you see above is what they sent us.

One of the best full-spectrum CBD oils we have come across, American Shaman, contains 25% other cannabinoids and 75% CBD. Pure CBD contains 100% CBD. Elixinol contains 99.85% CBD (only 0.15% other cannabinoids), so it barely can be called full spectrum.

According to their website, they test on terpenes, but their terpene profile is not available for public viewing. They informed us about that in an email. Considering their 'full spectrum' interpretation, one can only wonder how their terpene profile would look like.

We also have to point out that the above lab test certificate, sent to us by Elixinol, and the lab certificates on their website, are in-house certificates. They are not independent third-party lab certificates.

Fake Cannabidiol

Mislabeling Happens More than You Think

A full-spectrum label without any other cannabinoids, or 300 mg instead of the labeled 3000 mg CBD, we see it all too often. But did you know that according to a report on Jama (end 2017) 30% of the CBD products are mislabeled like that?

Mislabeling is misleading and you are still fine (you just overpaid) when you get less CBD as mentioned above. But unfortunately, there are also cases where the THC content is way above the legal limit. THC is the impairing component of cannabis and it can make you fail a drug test if concentrations are too high.

That's why quality CBD oils are made from industrial hemp, which is controlled by the government and contains less than the legal limit of THC (0.3%). CBD can also be made from cannabis but then the THC level needs to be additionally lowered by removing access amounts. This is extra work and often skipped to cut corners.
