SIGNIFICANT MONUMENTS IN OUR WORLD TODAY

Being a traveller, explorer or geographer, one tends to explore the beauty and amazement of the universe at large. Not just talking about our exquisite streets and buildings, but the amazing statues we have in our Earth today.
I’d be discussing the most significant and well-known statues in our world today.

THE AFRICAN RENAISSANCE MONUMENT
The present tallest statue in Africa, the African Renaissance monument is situated in Senegal, a country of Western Africa. It depicts an African family of a man holding out a child with a woman to the other side.

THE MOTHERLAND CALLS

”For heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad”

Now we all know our very own Motherland is the great African continent, but this great monument called “The Motherland Calls” stands strongly in Russia. It is the statue of a lady holding out a sword, amazingly a remarkable statue. The statue is erected on the hill Mamayev Kurgan in Volgograd, Russia. It was unveiled in October 1967. “For heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad” is the the symbolic representation of this monument.

THE STATUE OF LIBERTY

This famous statue located in the heart of Liberty Island, New York, is one of the tallest statues of the world. The statue was a gift from France to the Americans, as a friendship symbol and also a sign for mutual desire for liberty. It is a universal symbol of freedom.

SPRING TEMPLE BUDDHA

The Spring Temple Buddha is the tallest statue in the world. It is located in Lucian County, Henan, China. It depicts Vairocana Buddha, a celestial Buddha, and was completed in 2002. It stands at a whooping height of 128m high.

CHRIST THE REDEEMER

Located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the ‘Christo Redempto’ statue stands as one of the tallest statues of the world. It is an Art Deco statue of Jesus Christ with his arms spread open. It was created by French sculptor, Paul Landowski.
This beautiful monument is a symbol of Christianity across the world. The statue is also listed as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
