Every time I see that meme about Bitcoin being "magic money in my computer," I think, a) what do you think your bank account is? and b) either direct them to the SciShow video explaining blockchain or the book The Age of Cryptocurrency, which you know they're not gonna read, because they want to seem smart and witty and not actually learn about it. It's currently trendy to mock crypto among a lot of people of my political bent (I'm an anarcho-socialist, very left), and I'm like, y'all, crypto is how we're gonna get out of this unfair system and destroy the banks. This is how we're gonna finally break centralised corporate control. (Shrug) When it starts being more mass adopted, I foresee a lot of those "why didn't you tell me about this" conversations, too.
