If we served something like this he wouldn't of eaten.

I was reading @tarazkp's post about his wonderful daughter and it reminded me of the things that happened with my kids. My daughter was smart and a trouble stirrer especially with her younger brother. There is a year difference between them and they never fought with each other,but did get the better of each other from time to time.

My son was about 4 at the time and was very fussy what he ate. He loved meat and we couldn't put a name to the food he was eating. If we were having a leg of lamb it would be called something else so he wouldn't realise it was part of an animal. We used to see the farm animals in the fields as there was a farm close by to where we lived. He used to go and feed the chickens, goats and cows and he loved the pigs.

He never registered that his pork sausages that he loved so much came from a pig. We all just kept quiet and made things up when he asked questions around his food. I am sure most kids ask , but I can't recall having the same problem with my daughter.

We always sat down at the table to have meals as a family as I felt it was important to do something together every day. We all lead busy lives today , but we all meet at the table still for dinner. That evening we were having roast Chicken and my son was given the white meat so he wouldn't recognise anything. My daughter was having her food dished up and asked if she could have the wing and a leg. My son was confused and asked immediately if we were eating a bird? We couldn't lie and he ate vegetables that night.

He ate chicken not long after, but he was eating schnitzels and hadn't put it all together yet. I am sure my daughter did it on purpose asking for a wing as that is her character. She still laughs about it today teasing her brother and says it was an honest mistake.
