The responsible ant

in #children5 years ago

As elders, it is our duty to teach children the importance of preserving the planet and how to go about it. Steps does not involve studying textbooks or speaking in a language that few understand. It would be enough to distribute plant saplings and spreading the message to all in the form of stories or short texts/poems and all.

I try my bit by planting small holy basil saplings which gives out oxygen even during the night. I also try to write short stories and poems to spread the word. The more fresh air we help produce, the better it is for our planet and the life on it.

Please share and resteem this post so that it is read by people and would encourage all to plant more saplings.

The responsible ant

Peevee was an ant. He was also a busy ant. It was his duty to search for food and bring back information to the others so that they could come forward and take it back to the nest.

Peevee was very good in his job. He knew that he could always find sugar crystals on the dining room floor or the kitchen and other tidbits as well. The other ants appreciated his dedication and always gave him extra pieces of food as a treat but he refused it.

Unknown to others, Peevee used to do work when other ants rested. He used to climb up the holy basil plant and scatter the seeds with his body. He hoped that the seeds sprouted and more plants came up. He felt that he should do this as part of the plan of preserving the planet.

Peevee had observed that the humans were bent on destroying the forest. He did not want the future generation of ants to suffer. So, he went about trying to scatter the seeds of not only the holy basil which let out oxygen even during the night but also the seeds of the flower plants which kept the bees alive.

Peevee was a good example to the other ants in his nest and all respected him very much.

If as an ant, Peevee could do so much, why not we humans do our bit by planting saplings?

This is a cute little story and an inspiring initiative. I tend to teach my niece and nephew about the importance of insects and I must say that ants are a pretty great example ( and fun to study ). I hope this teaching at a young age will lead to them skipping the burning ants with a magnifying glass ( stage ), putting salt on a snake and cutting in a rain worm in two halves, to see what happens. I tried all these things as a boy. Something I regretted later on.

Have a nice week!

Really, the ant brain is putting the humanity to shame. Loved the story.

It's really very sad that animal who we think are below us has far more of social responsibilities and the we humans failed in that matter.
