China reduces the duties of nearly 1600 products

China said it has cut its import duties to 1585 products today, including construction machinery and building materials. Last November, a similar fall in food and consumer goods, the Associated Press reported.

Beijing has announced a new drop in import duties at the end of September, but not measures in response to US complaints from China's technology policy that fuel the escalation of the trade conflict between the two leading global economies.

The decrease in import duties is the second in less than a year. According to the government, it is part of the effort to lower consumer spending and strengthen the competitiveness of the economy.
