In the kidneys it is used as a lymphatic stimulant. For the prostate it has been used as a reliever of symptoms including urgency, frequency, and painful urination. Nettle was used to treat painful muscles, joints, anemia and arthritis for many years. Side effects to watch for include: sweating, skin irritation, and stomach discomfort.

Burdock as well can be consumed as a tea. Burdock specifically suppresses the immune complexes that can cause kidney damage as well s acting as a natural diuretic.

Rhemannia which has been used in asian countries widely has been clinically studied according to the Journal of ethnopharmacology, 2009. The renoprotective effects of Rhemannia glutinosa showed reduction of serum creatinine by suppressing the expression of a compound called angiotensin II and AT(1) receptor, as well as type IV collagen and TGF-beta1.
