THE LORDSHIP OF THE WORD, ANGELS OR MEN?

image

The Lordship of the word, and the influence of the spirit, what about it?

Praying and desiring for the Lordship of the word, is the same as praying for yourself. The word doesn't float around, the word (the message) is carried by Men.

Rom 10:8 KJV But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

The word of faith, that we preach. We are the preachers. The we, doesn't it include angels?

1Pe 1:12 KJV Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

Angels desire to look into it, they don't understand it

Eph 3:10 KJV To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,

Angels came to know the gospel through the church.

In the case of Cornelius.

Act 10:3 KJV He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius..........
Act 10:5 KJV And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:

The angel told him to send for Peter, the angel didn't attempt to teach
the gospel.

When Jesus choose His witnesses, He didn't choose angels, He choose men,

Act 1:8 KJV But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Act 2:32 KJV This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.

Act 5:32 KJV And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

A quick one again in 1st Timothy 3:16

1Ti 3:16 KJV And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, SEEN OF ANGELS, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

The word angels here is the word "aggelos"

Original: ἄγγελος
Transliteration: aggelos
Phonetic: ang'-el-os
Thayer Definition:
a messenger, envoy, one who is sent, an angel, a messenger from God
Origin: from aggello (to bring tidings)
Part(s) of speech: Noun Masculine
Strong's Definition: From ἀγγέλλω aggellō (probably derived from G71; compare G34; to bring tidings); a messenger ; especially an " angel" ; by implication a pastor: - angel, messenger.

The word was used in certain texts of the Bible as messengers, here are some examples:

Luk 7:24 KJV And when the messengers of John were departed, he began to speak unto the people concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness for to see? A reed shaken with the wind?

Luk 9:52 KJV And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.
James used it,

Jas 2:25 KJV Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?

So in 1st Timothy 3:16, Paul was explaining the mystery of the gospel (godliness), hence the most appropriate translation should be SEEN OF HIS MESSENGERS (which are Apostles)

This is consistent with other portions of the scriptures:

John was a witness

1Jn 1:1 KJV That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;

Peter was a witness

2Pe 1:16 KJV For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

Here Peter and John said:

Act 4:20 KJV For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

They were the witnesses.
So 1st Timothy 3:16 should be better translated:

1Ti 3:16 KJV

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, received up into glory, seen of the messengers, who then preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world. ( I also did a little syntax rearrangement to align the thought)

So from heaven to earth, no one is given the gospel to preach, but Men.
Men were witness, Men are still preachers today:

Rom 10:14 KJV How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

We carry the message, we are to preach, No matter how long we Pray and pray, if we dont preach, Take on a mission work, Pastor a local assembly, Start a church. There won't be the Lordship of the word. no spreading to everymans world with the words of Christ.

So when we pray prayers like

2Th 3:1 KJV Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:

The free course of the word is the free course of the carrier, the speed of the word is the speed of the carrier, the word going unhindered is the same as ourselves going unhindered, the honor of the word, is the same as honor for the carrier.

Next verse, Paul stressed:

2Th 3:2 KJV And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.
That we are delivered also.

The safety of the message is the safety of the carrier.
We represent the word. We Herald the lordship of the word. We are the Ambassadors of Christ.
We have received a message, we have received a word, we have a mandate. We are not lazy, we are not clueless, we are deliberate. We cover the earth.

How will they believe if there be no preacher?

Yours in Christ.
