Guardians of Men

Can you just imagine what a lonely planet ours would be without man's best friend? I love dogs and cats and other small creatures but dogs are top on my list, I'll take them anytime. They are so awesome really because they are loyal, they guard and protect us, keep us company and they would never leave us. I always remember someone saying show me your dog and I'll tell you who you are. So this is what I sometimes think of when I see dog owners with their pets, the way they treat their dogs can be quite telling. I have four dogs and a two month old puppy. Keeping them healthy and happy can be a daily ardous task.

Somehow writing about these canine wonders bring to mind another friend we all have in common, our guardian angels. Unike our canine friends they have been with us from birth until death. As Georges Huber writes, "they are constantly focused on man, to protect, encourage him and inspire him. They have the mission of helping men in all their physical, intellectual and spiritual activities especially the worship of God which can take the form of adoration, atonement, thanksgiving and petition."

Each of us has a guardian angel and they are always at our side. How can we be sure each of us has a guardian angel? Jesus says so (Mt 18:10), and the church has always taught it. Furthermore Peter Kreeft in his book Angels(and Demons) says "Angels never leave us, when he goes on an errand, he does not leave us anymore than he leaves God. He bilocates and trilocates. Wherever you go, you take your angel." Spiritual warfare is the battle between Good and Evil in all forms. The battleground is human souls. To be able to fight against the devil and his cohorts we must pray to our guardian angel, pray to St. Michael the Archangel, pray to Mary, the second Eve and pray to the Lord of all who created all things.

Can angels help us win this war? Yes!!
