Most of what we were fed is not about Christ I think. Been awhile, but I read some time back that it was impossible for the birth to have been the 25th Dec, and that the birthday came from Mithra (as well as virgin birth, etc etc). The commercialization is what most equate it with.

Then you look at Easter (Ishtar) and the eggs (fertility). They really juiced up the selected (approved) writings/beliefs when they peppered in various preexisting beliefs and fed them to the masses.
