The Golden Rule
It's so amazing how the Golden Rule is so universal that it applies to how we are meant to coexist with other people. What is the Golden Rule anyway?
"So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you."
This verse is found in Matthew 7:12 and in Luke 6:31. Confucius has a different version, only just that it's worded in negative form, in my opinion.
"Don't do unto others what you don't want done unto you."
Although it can be taken as a positive "word to live by", it is just telling you how you're not supposed to hurt someone, if you don't want to be hurt. In other words, exercise self-control. Keeping your hands to yourself. Resisting the temptation to violate another's person, property, and humanity.
- Don't shout at anyone, if you don't want to be yelled at.
- Don't cheat on your significant other, if it will make you freak out if your significant other cheats on you.
- Don't rip someone off, if you don't want people to rip you off.
- Don't rob or steal anything from anyone, if you don't want your things to be stolen.
- Don't be a bully, if you don't want to be bullied.
- Don't be a racist, if you don't want your own heritage to be looked down upon.
- Don't rape someone, if you don't want yourself or anyone in your family to be raped.
- Don't kill if you don't want yourself or anyone in your family be murdered.
Now, that sounds pretty gruesome, just thinking about it. When the Golden Rule by our Lord Jesus Christ is founded and ruled by Love. (And remember, God is love.)
- Love because you want to be loved.
- Respect as you would want to be respected.
- Be trustworthy and faithful at all times.
- Speak calmly and gently as you would want to be spoken that way.
- Give generously and cheerfully and expect nothing in return, as you would also want to receive something and not be held in obligation.
- Always tell the truth as you would want truth, and nothing else, to be told to you.
- Be a good friend. Be a good person.
- Forgive.
Everything is possible with God. If you have God in your life, it's easy to love. Loving someone, even your "enemy", will practically be impossible, if you don't have Jesus Christ in your life. With God, He makes everything possible and doable.

The Golden Rule has always seemed to be the simplest way to run one's life. Easy, really... how would I want to be treated, and then do the same to others. :-)
That's right. The principle of reciprocity!!! If we all live by this, the world will be a better place. If I want the world that I live in to be a better place, then love and respect should start with me.
