Another new month is here with us and we can boldly say we made it through because our father, Lord Jesus made it so. We will continuously say Thank You Lord for your countless blessings and mercies upon our lives.

Knowing God

Jeremiah 31:33-34

33 “This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,” declares the LORD. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.
34 No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the LORD,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,” declares the LORD. “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”

It is important we know God for ourselves, and the only way to know him for ourselves is to study the word of God. He is the word and the word is in him, so in order for us to know him, we must study his word(Bible)

I believe we all remember the people of Berea as opposed to the Thessalonians in Acts 17:11?

And the people of Berea were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica, and they listened eagerly to Paul’s message. They searched the Scriptures day after day to see if Paul and Silas were teaching the truth.

It is high time, we make it a reality to function better by knowing Him, through his word.

A lot of scriptures have been taken out of context these days by the very people who preaches the word of God. The sad thing is that preachers upon preachers quote and interpret the Bible out of context and we have also carried them as we heard them say it. We always forget to check them out at our free time to see even what they said was even true.
Let me ask you this: Have you bothered to read the various Bible verses you hear around by preachers from Buses, by the road side and other public places?

In Job 14:7,

“Even a tree has more hope! If it is cut down, it will sprout again and grow new branches.

For a very long time, this scripture has been used to reiterate the fact that human beings are superior to trees and that if trees are hopeful of sprouting again after it had been cut down, then men should be more hopeful that if they fall they will certainly rise again.

Though it is true that with faith in God a fallen christian will rise again, that is not what Job 14:7 is saying at all. In fact, it is rather the opposite. In the context of Job 14, what the Spirit of God is revealing is that at death, the tree is better than man and that man should eschew pride or arrogance.

Though its roots have grown old in the earth and its stump decays, at the scent of water it will bud and sprout again like a new seedling. “But when people die, their strength is gone. They breathe their last, and then where are they?

Now we see why we should study the bible for ourselves? It will help us know more than what we hear outside our comfort. The moment we get hold of what the Word of God says, it becomes ours, and what the word of God tells us makes us to know Him more.
