The Last 7 Words of Jesus Christ on The Cross | Sunday Sermon - Miniu

in #christianity5 years ago (edited)

Hi Hi dear Steemians! This was written on 7th April 2019 (so, it would be a “present tense” article 😆)

It is Fifth Sunday in Lent 😇

Which means, it is about two weeks before the Easter Day. Remembering what Jesus had done for us is important as we are a weak and forgetful sinner - easily forget the grace we have received, easily forget to glorify His name in our daily life, easily forget the importance of living out a new life, etc.

Today sermon is shared by Brother Frederick.

The first word 😭:

"Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do." Luke 23:34
At the cross - the most painful moment, Jesus did not curse the “ignorant” sinners. Oppositely, he asked for forgiveness - seeing us as a group of innocent people.

The second word ❤️:

“Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.” Luke 23:43
In this case, it shows us that we are saved by faith, not our deeds. Sometimes, we might hear people saying, “i will come to Jesus when I am old/successful". Yet, how sure you are that you will have time/luck to do so? There is always no time to do good work and to be baptised. So many people passed away while sleeping...Right?

The third word 💞:

Jesus said to his mother, “Woman, here is your son.” Then, he said to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” John 19:26-27
Christianity is not about religion, its about relationship. Jesus created a community that we can call each other as brothers and sisters in Christ. Love one another as a family though we are not “blood” related.

The forth word 💔:

“My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?” Mark 15:34
He took our sins upon himself which caused God, the Holy one, unable to be with Jesus (because of our sins) at that critical moment. Jesus normally called Father instead of God. He called “my God” instead of “my Father” actually brings a meaning that He was representing us to beg for a closer relationship with God.

The fifth word 🍷:

“I thirst.” John 19:28
It is not because he was thirst, but he thirsted to take away the generational curse. In those old days, whoever committed sins, their punishments were inherited to their children. The salvation that He made for us can save and free us from the family curse.

The sixth word ✨:

“It is finished.” John 19:29-30
Jesus did not say "I am finished". In fact, He crossed the finishing line where he accomplished his task. It is not a word of Despair, but of TRIUMPH!

The seventh word 💫:

"Father, into your hands, I commend my spirit." Luke 23:46
It is not s cry of relief at the touch of death, but a cry of victory that he has endured to the end of His Journey.
When dealing with death, we will think of "sorrow, refused to let go, fear" etc. But death is something that Christians should not be afraid of as it is no more the death of our spirit, but the hope of our spirit - being able to be with our heavenly Father! A wonderful reunion in future 🏆

Jesus won't make joke when he was dying. These last 7 words are believed to be the most important words before he died.

YET, Are we taking His Words serious enough?

Let's prepare our prayerful heart for the coming Last Friday and Easter Sunday 🙏
