God's Purpose for a New Heart
Text: Jer. 17:10
Introduction
As we discovered, the human heart is deceitful, desperately wicked and beyond cure. (Jer. 17:9,10). However, the heart of man was not like that when God first created it. (Gen. l:31a). When God created man. He was having constant fellowship with him (man) (Gen. 3:8). Unfortunately, man lost this opportunity when he conspired with the devil to rebel against God by eating the forbidden fruit. Ever since. God has been looking for ways of restoring this fellowship.
#Lessons
God's purpose for a new heart are numerous. They include:
- Transformation of the old heart (Ezek. 36:26)
- To become God's people (Ezek. 36:26)
- Restoration of the lost fellowship with God (Jer. 24:7)
- Empowerment to do God's will (Zeph. 3:9)
- To have the Spirit of God. (Ezek. 36:27)
- To fear Him (Jer. 32:39)
- To love Him (Deut. 30:6)
- To walk in His ways, keep His ordinances and do them. (Ezek. 11:19,20)
- To be able to enter the kingdom of God (John. 3:3-5)
