The Poetic Craft of The Saviour's Birth

in #christianity6 years ago (edited)

Christmas day is finally here! It is with great merriment that I wish all steemians 'Merry Christmas'!

Well, what's this whole Christmas thingy really about? For those who still don't know, Christmas is about the celebration of the birth (not the birthday) of Jesus Christ, who Christians believe to be the saviour of the world from sin and eternal damnation (by his eternal sin offering of crucifixion).

What's amazing about the birth of Jesus Christ is that his birth was prophesied many centuries earlier (even before the foundations of the world was made). The wonderful and beautiful imagery and allegory surrounding his birth is very intriguing and thought-provoking! I thought to share a few of the poetic craft I realized in the saviour's birth...

The allegory:

The 'bread of life' was born in the house of bread (Beth-le-hem)

The irony:

A pregnant virgin gave birth to 'the son of man'

The humour:

The 'good shepherd' was born (laid) in a manger

The paradox:

The 'eternal life' was born by dead humanity; life was born to die for the sake of the dead, to give life to the dead, so that all dead lives will have eternal life!

Lest I forget to add a rather unfortunate irony:

The birth of the 'Prince of peace' caused commotion and wrecked havoc as many innocent baby lives...

The satire:

The king of Kings received his first ethereal worship and gifts from magi (philosophers, wise and influential men from ancient East). Wise men still seek him.

God is definitely poetry itself! He is the greatest artist of all time; His poetic imagery is scattered throughout the creations of the entire universe!

Hope you found these intereting! If yes, please do show some love by upvoting this post. Merry Christmas twice again! Love y'all.

I have a feeling, you not a christian

I'm wowed by your creative piece. Kudos @nanayaw-ok

Nice post.if wise men of old times still seek him at his birth then what is preventing men now from seeking after his death and resurrection. This is the beauty of Christmas his birth so he can die and then live for ever
