Mirage of Church’s Bible-oriented Ministry

우리네 교회에서는, 이 시대가 말씀이 완성된 시대이므로 말씀을 잘 배우고 익히는 말씀중심사역을 해야 한다고 열변을 토하고 있죠.

Churches today often tells us that we must carry out Bible-oriented ministry, which emphasizes learning of the Bible, since we live in the era where the Bible is complete.

틀린 말은 아닙니다. 그러나 문제는 우리네 교회의 말씀 중심사역에 성령의 열매가 없다는 것이예요.

It’s not all wrong; the problems is that these ministries don’t show fruits of Holy Spirit.

우리네 교회처럼 성경을 많이 배우는 나라가 어디 있나요?

Korea is known for its rigorous Bible studies.

일주일이면 열 번이 넘는 예배의식의 중심은 말씀을 듣는 설교시간입니다.

Church holds 10 or more worship services in a week, and the core of these services is Bible based sermons.

어디 그뿐입니까? 교회 자체적으로 각종 성경학교를 만들어서 가르치고 있고, 매년 외부에서 성경공부 프로그램을 들여다가 전교인으로 하여금 배우게 하고 있어요.

That’s not all. Some hold yearly Bible schools, even inviting and adopting Bible study programs from overseas.

그래서 교인들이 성경지식을 머리에 쌓아두고 해박한 성경지식으로 무장하고 있는데, 왜 믿음의 능력이 없으며 성령의 열매가 맺히지 않는지 기이하지 않습니까?

People who learn all this practically arm themselves with knowledge of the Bible, but why are they powerless and fruitless?

결론적으로 말해서, 우리네 교회에서 가르치는 말씀중심의 사역은 허상에 불과하다는 증거일 뿐입니다.

Long story short, that’s the proof that bible oriented ministry the churches have is a mere mirage.

최근 S이단이 교세를 맹렬하게 뻗히고 있습니다.

Recently, S Cult has been very active.

그들은 외부에서 교인들에게 접근하여 빼내가는 게 아니라, 아예 교회 안으로 들어와서 열정적인 교인들을 섭외하고 포섭하여 그들만의 교리로 세뇌시키고 있습니다.

Instead of luring Christians from outside the church, it infiltrates inside and take s the whole church with it, just like Pied Piper of Hamelin.

그들은 적당히 형식적으로 교회마당을 밟는 교인들에게 관심이 없어요.

The cult doesn't take interest in people who aren’t too committed to church.

열정적인 교인들에게 접근하는 이유는, 열정적인 교인들은 그동안 신앙생활을 열정적으로 해왔지만, 능력도 열매도 응답도 없는 현상에 자괴감을 느끼고 있기 때문입니다.

It approaches hard working Christians because they are easier to lure, since they have spiritual thirst, although they devotedly worked for church.

그래서 이들이 접근하여 새로운 교리를 알려주면, 귀가 번쩍 뜨여서 빠지게 되는 겁니다.

When they hear something new, they fall for it, due to their thirst and desire to find true faith.

결국 기존 교회의 열정적인 교인들이 해왔던 성경중심사역이라는 게 별 볼일 없었다는 게 그 증거입니다.

That only means church did not quench their thirst and provide solution for the people’s lives.

기독교가 백여 년 전에 한국에 들어와서, 지금처럼 세상 사람들로부터 욕을 먹는 교회와 목회자들도 없었습니다.

Many pastors (I guess, Christians in general) became mockery in town, probably first time in 100 years since its arrival in Korea.

그러나 아이러니하게, 이 시대처럼 성경지식을 많이 배울 수 있는 시대도 없습니다.

Ironically, the modern age is probably the best era to learn about the Bible.

인터넷에 24시간 설교방송이 돌아가고, 유투브에 유명목사의 성경공부가 널려있고, 평신도도 신학을 할 수 있는 사이버신학교가 허다하니까요.

Sermons are uploaded online for 24/7 viewing; there are tons of Bible studies on YouTube, created by famous pastors; and now you can even study online for your degree in theology, from Internet seminary.

그러나 이 시대처럼 무능하고 무기력한 교회도 없는 게 기이하고 섬뜩한 일입니다.

It’s too scary that church is as powerless, even with all the resources available to them.

그래서 인터넷에 들어가면, 하나님을 모르는 세상 사람들로부터 목회자와 기독교인들이 조롱을 당하고 예수님이 멸시를 당하고 있죠.

And you can see secular people making fun of pastors and Christians online.

그게 성경지식이 부족해서일까요?

Is it due to lack of biblical knowledge?

그 이유는 우리네 목사들과 교회에 하나님이 떠나셨기 때문입니다.

IT’s because God has left the church and its people.

그래서 그 이유를 찬찬히 살펴보고 싶습니다.

Let’s take a look at why.

태초에 말씀이 계시니라 이 말씀이 하나님과 함께 계셨으니 이 말씀은 곧 하나님이시니라 그가 태초에 하나님과 함께 계셨고 만물이 그로 말미암아 지은 바 되었으니 지은 것이 하나도 그가 없이는 된 것이 없느니라(요1:1~3)

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. (John 1: 1-3)

말씀은 곧 하나님이라고 밝히고 있습니다. 하나님은 말씀의 능력으로 자신의 존재감을 드러내십니다.

It says word itself is God. God reveals himself to us through His words and power.

그래서 성경은 창세기부터 기적으로 시작해서 요한계시록까지 기적으로 끝내고 있어요.

That’s why the Bible starts and ends with miracles, from Genesis to Revelation.

그렇다면 말씀중심의 사역이란 무엇일까요? 말씀을 열심히 배우고 머리에 저장해서, 해박한 성경지식으로 가르치면 되는 겁니까?

Then what is the Bible-oriented ministry? Can people just learn and know about the Bible?

말씀을 배우는 목적은 말씀대로 살려는 게 아닌가요?

Isn’t the reason for studying God’s word to live accordingly?

그러나 말씀을 해박하게 아는 것과 말씀대로 사는 것은 다릅니다.

But knowing the word is different from living according to the word.

예수님 당시의 바리새인과 서기관들은 당시 구약성경인 모세오경을 암송해서 백성들에게 가르쳤습니다.

Pharisees and the scribes taught people the Bible (5 books written by Moses)

그러나 그들은 예수님으로부터 독사의 새끼라는 독설을 들으며 지옥의 불길에 던져졌지요.

But they were called the offsprings of snake and thrown out to Hell.

말씀대로 살지 않으면 해박한 성경지식을 쌓아둔 들 무슨 소용이 있겠습니까?

What’s the point of knowing God’s word, if you don’t apply it in your life?

그래서 말씀지식에 해박한 목회자들이 거룩하게 성품이 변화하고, 성령의 능력이 탁월한 제자들을 양육하면서 풍성한 성령의 열매를 주렁주렁 매달고 있습니까?

And do you see the pastors full of biblical knowledge, change into holy character, nurturing followers, and having fruits of the Spirit?

아니라면 아닌 것이고 없다면 없는 겁니다.

There is no “maybe”--the answer can be either yes or no.

성경지식을 아무리 많이 쌓아두더라도 성경대로 살 수 없는 이유는, 죄와 싸워 이길 수도 없고 죄를 부추기는 악한 영과 싸워 이길 수도 없기 때문입니다.

Although they are equipped with the knowledge of the Bible, they don’t live accordingly because they don’t have to power to fight against sins.

죄와 싸워 이기고 말씀대로 살 능력은 자신의 노력이나 의지로 되는 게 아니에요.

The ability to fight against sins and live according to God’s word is not something you could acquire by endeavor or will.

성령 하나님께서 우리 안에 들어오셔서 그 능력을 주셔야 가능합니다.

Holy Spirit has to come to use and give us that power.

만물보다 거짓되고 심히 부패한 것은 마음이라 누가 능히 이를 알리요마는(렘17:9)

The heart is deceitful above all things

and beyond cure.

Who can understand it? (Jeremiah 17: 9)

모든 사람의 결국은 일반이라 이것은 해 아래에서 행해지는 모든 일 중의 악한 것이니 곧 인생의 마음에는 악이 가득하여 그들의 평생에 미친 마음을 품고 있다가 후에는 죽은 자들에게로 돌아가는 것이라(전9:3)

This is the evil in everything that happens under the sun: The same destiny overtakes all. The hearts of people, moreover, are full of evil and there is madness in their hearts while they live, and afterward they join the dead. (Ecclesiastes 9: 3)

전에는 우리도 다 그 가운데서 우리 육체의 욕심을 따라 지내며 육체와 마음의 원하는 것을 하여 다른 이들과 같이 본질상 진노의 자녀이었더니(엡2:3)

All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh[a] and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. (Ephesians 2: 3)

성경은 사람의 마음과 생각은 태어날 때부터 죄성으로 인해 부패되었다고 선언하고 있습니다.

Holy Spirit says people were tainted with sin from birth.

그래서 사람들은 본능적으로 죄를 좋아하고 죄를 추구하고 싶어 하지요.

It is our nature to be drawn to sin.

그래서 평생 악이 가득하여 미친 마음을 품고 살다가 지옥으로 던져지게 되어있다고 말하고 있습니다.

So we are full of sinful thoughts all our lives and get thrown down to Hell.

그러므로 아무리 성경지식을 쌓아두었다고 할지라도, 그 본성이 육체와 마음이 원하는 대로 살아가는 죄의 종이 되어 하나님의 진노의 대상이 될 수밖에 없다고 선포하고 있습니다.

No matter how much knowledge we store in our heads, it is our instinct to follow worldly pleasure, becoming God’s object of wrath.

그래서 예수님은 제자의 첫째 요건으로, 자아를 죽이고 부정하는 자기부인을 조건으로 꼽고 있는 이유입니다.

That is why Jesus required self-denial from his disciples.

그러나 자아를 죽이는 것은 거북이가 등껍질을 떼어내는 것과 다름이 없습니다. 거북이에게서 등껍질을 떼어내면 죽습니다.

But self-denial is as hard as a turtle taking off its shell; the turtle dies by doing that.

그래서 예수 그리스도의 제자는 자아를 십자가에 못 박고 날마다 죽어야 됩니다.

So followers of Jesus must put themselves and die on the cross everyday.

그러나 스스로 자기를 죽이는 것은 불가능합니다.

But it’s impossible to kill our ego.

그래서 성령께서 우리 안에 들어오셔서 십자가의 보혈의 능력을 가슴에 새겨주시고, 자기를 죽이고 죄와 싸워 이길 수 있는 능력을 주셔야 가능한 일입니다.

It’s only possible when Holy Spirit comes and gives us power to hang ourselves on the cross and fight against sins.

그러나 우리네 교회는 성령이 내주하는 기도훈련에 무지합니다.

But churches today are ignorant regarding prayer to call Holy Spirit.

새벽기도회에 나가서 겨우 십여 분 기도하는 것을 칭찬하고 있을 정도입니다.

People barely prayfor 10-20 minutes during morning prayer meetings, and they are praised for it.

그 기도의 내용도 성령과 교제하는 기도가 아니라, 자신의 유익을 구하고 문제를 해결해달라는 내용에 불과하지요.

And usually, their prayers only talk about their worldly wishes they hope God grants.

쉬지 말고 기도하라 ... 이것이 그리스도 예수 안에서 너희를 향하신 하나님의 뜻이니라(살전5:17,18)

pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5: 17-18)

너희가 온 마음으로 나를 구하면 나를 찾을 것이요 나를 만나리라(렘29:13)

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29: 13)

여호와의 눈은 온 땅을 두루 감찰하사 전심으로 자기에게 향하는 자들을 위하여 능력을 베푸시나니(대하16:9)

For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war.” (2 Chronicles 16: 9)

우리네 교회의 말씀중심사역의 맹점은 성경지식을 머리에 쌓아두는 것으로 그치고 있는 것입니다.

The church’s Bible-oriented teaching stop at gather knowledge.

성령께서 말씀을 조명해주셔야 비로소 말씀이 머리에서 가슴으로 내려오며, 그 때서야 비로소 말씀대로 살려는 열망이 생기게 됩니다.

Holy Spirit must work within you so that you’ll really understand what God says; that’s when you start to desire the holy lifestyle.

또한 그 열망을 이루게 해주는 능력을 얻으려면 바로 성령이 함께 하셔야 합니다.

And in order to live by God’s word--or have the ability to do so--Holy Spirit must dwell within you.

성령께서 동행하셔야 비로소 죄와 싸우고 죄를 부추기는 귀신고 싸워 이길 힘을 주십니다.

When Holy Spirit dwells within you, you’d be given the power to resist and fight against demons.

그런 사람들이 바로 하나님의 나라가 임하는 기쁨과 평안과 자유를 누리고 형통한 축복을 경험하는 것이죠.

These are the ones who’d feel joy, peace, and freedom of God’s kingdom and receive all the blessings there is.

또한 기적과 이적으로 귀신을 쫓아내고 귀신들이 일으킨 정신질환과 고질병을 치유하고 영혼을 구원하는 도구로 사용되는 것은 물론입니다.

And they’re the ones who’d be able to chase demons, heal people and souls, as God’s servants.

그러므로 성경지식이 해박한 여러분이 왜 무능하고 무기력한 믿음으로 고단하고 팍팍하게 사는지 곱씹어 보세요.

So please think why you live in misery, even after all the knowledge you have.

여러분 안에 성령이 안 계시기 때문입니다. 이는 미혹의 영이 우리네 교회지도자의 머리를 타고앉아 속이고 있기 때문이기도 합니다.

You live in that fashion because Holy Spirit is not with you; you live this way because spirits of falsehood deceived you.

그러므로 쉬지 않는 기도로 하나님의 이름을 부르며 전심으로 성령의 내주를 간구하는 기도의 습관을 들이지 않는다면, 여러분의 얼굴을 천국에서 결코 볼 수 없을 겁니다.

You won’t be seen in Heaven unless you pray constantly and ask for Holy Spirit’s indwelling.
