As befits a master, Hoffmann gallantly goes into the shadows, giving way to novice actors. In his life there were many things - a real cocktail of failures, ups and actors' reincarnations. But, like a sturdy wooden soldier, he overcame difficulties, defeated the cancer diagnosed in 2013 and continues to please us with his works, proving to the viewer that the spark has not gone anywhere.
