Night On Bare Mountain
Everyone's seen Fantasia's interpretation of Modest Mussorgsky's Night On Bald Mountain but does anyone know anything about the history of the composition and Mussorgsky himself? People always talk about Artists and Composers gaining their prominence after death and if anything this is one of those moments.
When Mussorgsky passed away from alcoholism only some few days after his 42nd birthday his piece named at the time Night On Bare Mountain was not finished, revised, or published however it expressed his feelings about the music. Still dealing with the grief of losing a friend Modest's great friends began making the piece into what Modest could have only hoped it to be. His friend Rimsky-Korsakov finished the piece and presented it to the world. Since at the time music could only be played through full orchestras and not on phone via the internet it didn't spread quickly until the fate full day when Walt Disney published it in Fantasia.
To this day I still watch Fantasia adoring the amount of care put into publishing this piece of music and how great friends will do anything for you even when your not there to say thank you. As usual don't forget to listen to this great piece of music! Who knows it could change your life...
