Georg Philipp Telemann, Nun freut euch lieben Christen gemein (TWV 31:52)

in #classical-music5 years ago (edited)

This chorale prelude is the twin of the one (TWV 31:51) I posted yesterday. Where TWV 31:51 is very 'keyboard' in nature, TWV 31:52 is more instrumental. It is easy to imagine the accompanying notes being played by a basso continuo and an instrument like violin or oboe, while the chorale melody is sung. Who knows, it might be a transcription of an aria from a cantata by Telemann. As it is more melodious, I like this one personally better than TWV 31:51.

The recording was done on the sample set of the Müller-organ in the Sint Bavokerk in Haarlem by Voxus Organs for Hauptwerk.

hi.
first of all, thank you for this initiative

The aim of Partitura Organum is to typeset lesser known organ music from original printed or manuscript sources that are in the public domain. In this way I hope to contribute to this music being played again.
