What the world needs now
What the world needs now
I visited the Highline recently, as much as I enjoy the views walking on the Highline above the city streets through the Meatpacking District, and of course the walk itself I love checking out what new art is on display there.
For this post, I will focus on the works of Robert Indiana called the Love series
Here is one of the pieces in this exhibit Love

This art is duisplayed in the grounds of one of the new buildings near the highline at 520 West 28th Street.
Here is a second piece of the three Amore

And the final piece of the three Ahava ( Hebrew)

The three pieces showcase the word love in the three Languages English,, Spanish and hebrew which as stated by the artist represent three of New York's most historic and significant influences.
Here is a shot showing all three pieces
The title for this post came to me when I saw this piece and I thought of the classic Song What the World Needs now the lyrics by Hal David and composed by Burt Bacharach and sung originally by Jackie Shannon, A lovely song which I will include a link to at the end of the post, and it has also been sung by a few other artists including Dione Warwick, Sergio Mendes

As you can see its quite a large open area where they have been placed, The area is around 5000 Sq Feet, Each of the three pieces are part of a larger series by the artist and have been previously displayed in other cities around the world
And a final shot of two of the pieces, I thought the contrast of the style sof the two pieces stood out

What a lovely, simple statement that these sculptures make! I “love” that song! I hear Dione Warwick singing it in my head when I think of the words to that song! I do love the original also! Have a Happy Thursday!
I think so simple and yet profound
I think Dione Warwick’s version is the most well known one
Thanks for the resteem and support truly appreciated :)

Great song and touching artwork by Mr. Indiana there. And it's true, need more of that passed around.
It’s a song that was so relevant when it came out and still is apt today for sure we need more love and less anger in the world
