International Women's Day in China 三八妇女节 🌹
Hello Steemians, Happy Women's Day!
Today is International Women's Day and I'm going to talk about how Chinese people celebrate Women's Day, which is a little different than the rest of the world.
The History of International Women's Day
The first Women's Day was celebrated in New York in 1909 and it was more of a protest than a celebration. International Women's Day is a day about celebrating the achievements of women throughout history but the earliest incarnations of this day were about proving that women were deserving of fair and equal treatment in everyday society. Women's rights have come a long way in the last hundred years around the world and March 8 is a day to celebrate how far we have come and how much further we need to go.
Women's Day in Modern China
Women's Day in China is less political than other places and is mainly a day for men to show their love for women through gifts and flowers. Most local stores in China also have large sales on this day so lots of women spend the day shopping. Think of it as another Mother's Day or Valentines Day but with a little more broad of a scope as all women can be a part of it. Even as I sat here in this coffee shop writing this a teenage girl came up to me and gave me a rose for free to celebrate the day.
妇女节的起源1909年美国妇女罢工和示威游行，要求平等权利和自由。在过去几千年来女人有着令人心酸的命运和遭遇。１９世纪末，随着工人运动不断发展，觉悟了的女性摈弃长期以来歧视妇女的陈腐观念，高举起了争取妇女自由平等权利的旗帜。终于在１９７７年，联大正式决定把３月８日作为“联合国妇女权益日和国际和平日”。
今日庆祝妇女节跟以往有很大区别，现在的妇女节是男人给女人买礼物买花的节日了，很多商场百货都会做折扣，吸引女人们来购物，因此又为女人多了一个疯狂购物的理由。甚至还有些企业在三八妇女节给所有女员工半天假，令男同事羡慕呀，为什么没有男人节？哈哈哈.......
今天早上我坐在咖啡厅写这篇文章的时候，有一个小女生给我送了一支玫瑰花并祝我节日快乐，让我感觉甚是温暖。
