Lisbon is a delightful city and very easy to get around. I feel walking will always be the preferred method to explore the city so on our last day there, we decided to have a nice relaxing stroll from our hotel to the city centre.

Unlike London, the weather in Portugal is akin to some subtropical Mediterranean climate. Even in November, the temperature remains fairly mild. It was very pleasant indeed, making our way through the winding city streets.

We discovered a few hidden alleyways and took a few pictures at almost every turn. What amazed me most was the vibrant street art and colourful buildings. I couldn’t help but fall in love with Lisbon, its streets, buildings and overall atmosphere.

Rossio Square

After a further 10 minute walk, we arrived at Rossio Square, one of the most scenic squares in the heart of Lisbon.

The large open square has two beautiful water fountains as well as a tall central monument showing off Lisbon’s historic past. Very impressive! And don't worry. There are many benches for taking a quick rest if need be. The square is also surrounded by numerous restaurants, shops and bars. Hence why so many tourists flocked to this cool hot spot.

Finally, it was just minutes away from the railway station and main shopping area in Central Lisbon.

What a great place to chill and sat down for some lunch. My dish Prawns with garlic and butter was so delicious by the way, lol.

Continue through the streets of Lisbon, we soon came across the "Lisboans’ love" for all things sweet. A quaint series of alleyways comprised of tiny tiled bakeries hidden within, each serving up their own delicious pastry – Portugal’s famous egg custard tart and many more "sweets tasties" besides.

Lisbon centre is a very charming venue with lots of pedestrian areas, shops and restaurants. Several parallel streets offer a great variety of more brand-name shops and eateries.

Numerous outdoor cafes are located in the middle of the main highstreet, offering cosy seating for people to sit and watch the world goes by. A bustling environment leading down towards to seafront.

Commercial Square (Praca do Comercio)

Another brief walk and we arrived at the stunning Commercial Square. This place was huge and spacious, with the statue of King Jose I looking out to sea. A long stretch of buildings are splayed in white and yellow and feature some ornamented sculptures. There are mainly more shops, cafes and restaurants with outdoor seating to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere.

I guess this is where things get the busiest. Chock full of people, mostly tourist. The central plaza itself is huge and restaurants are all around with some great entertainment offered by locals. There are street musicians, "still-life" statues and dancers showing off their talent for a small appreciative tip. A super fun place to be in and definitely one of Lisbon's highlights.

Beer Museum Restaurant (Museu da Cerveja)

After some time, we decided to rest our weary feet and enjoy the sunshine while taking in those amazing views of the port, the sea and the bridge.

Beer Museum is a bar-restaurant-museum, which is located in square itself. They have a very nice outdoor seating area which is great with nice weather like today.

So we stopped off there to catch a drink and catch up with some good friends outside the restaurant. Local cold beer was served in quite unusual glasses and the summer berries cheese cake was amazing.

Inside the restaurant, they have additional seating with really outstanding sparkling decorations. I was most impressed by the "wall of beer". It’s like one giant drinking hall. And the beer museum upstairs is free to visit if you eat or drink there.

The Sea Front

The beautiful calming seafront is so peaceful. A great place to take a break and rejuvenate mind, body and soul.

We also came across this random vintage leather sofa sitting on the beach, washed up by the lapping waves over and over again. I found it quite a picturesque scene, lol.

Lisbon is such an astounding city, brimming with charisma and some extraordinary city exploration. Simply an amazing holiday destination and definitely worth the visit.

(The End)

(Praca do Comercio)

(Museu da Cerveja)
