It's common sense to chop firewood before barbecue! 烧烤前要劈柴起火是常识吧！
Has anyone had barbecue with firewood yet?
有谁试过烧烤是用柴木起火吗？
In the United States and Canada, when you hear that you're going to go barbeque, please don't count your chickens. It simply doesn’t look like barbeque in Hong Kong that we go to the Country Park or beach to find a barbecue site, and sit together having chicken wings, meat balls and sausages.
在美加一听到要去barbeque，请不要开心太早。他们的BBQ不像我们在香港，去郊野公园或沙滩找个烧烤炉，围坐一起烧鸡翼、丸和香肠。
This time, our host mom was going to take us to go barbeque. Out of our surprise, we went to a friend's home to barbeque hot dogs in his garden. Wiener refers to from Austria (Wien) sausage, which is absolutely good for hot dog. There are different sizes of wiener. Cocktail wiener is smaller, like Intestinal cheese in Hong Kong. The one used for hot dog barbecue is relatively longer and thick. After burning, its skin is more brittle and not easy to crack. And of course it is delicious!
而这次寄宿家庭说要带我们去烧烤，原来是去朋友家的后园烧weiner（热狗香肠的名字）吃热狗，Wiener是指来自奥地利(Wien)的香肠，很适合作为热狗。Wiener有不同尺寸，cocktail wiener较细小，像香港常见的芝士肠；用作热狗烧烤的Wiener较长身和粗，烧过后的外皮较脆和不易裂开，而且很味美呢！
Before we started barbecue, definitely, we had to chop and fire firewood! This is my first time to learn chopping firewood in Canada! Experienced “teacher” could split the firewood with an ax in one hand. We were all amazed. Practicing so many times, we began to master the skills.
在正式烧烤之前，当然要劈柴起火！这次在加拿大是我第一次学劈柴呢！有多年砍柴经验「老师」单手拿着斧头就能劈开木头，我们都啧啧称奇。我们练习了好几十次，满头大汗，才开始掌握技巧。
Later, the teacher gave us some challenges. He taught us to pick up the split wood, and chop it into small pieces for making fire. Perhaps, I was exhausted. I was holding the firewood with one hand while raising the axe with another hand. I didn’t move away my hand holding the firewood and the axe nearly cut my fingers!!!! It must be difficult performance. And now I still feel panic what I did.
后来，老师又加深难度，教我们拿起已劈开的木头，劈成一条条幼木条来生火用。或者是太累的关系，我一手举起斧头劈下去，但另一只扶着木头的手竟然没有缩开！斧头正正落在我的手指旁边，即场成为难度表演，现在回想起也心有余悸！
We kept chopping firewood, which can be used for a few years finally. We know that we have no chances to chop firewood again when coming back Hong Kong.
最后我们越劈越起劲，整整劈了可供几年用的柴木，回来香港也再没机会劈柴了！
