"Coca-Cola" offers an alcoholic drink for the first time in its history

After consumers used to issue only gourd drinks for 132 years, Coca-Cola decided for the first time to offer alcoholic drinks, especially in Japan.

Coca-Cola said it plans to produce canned beverages in cans of Chushu, a spiritual substance, in an attempt to increase its popularity in Japan, according to The Guardian.

Alcohol content in the new drink will range from 3% to 8%.

While Japan's Coca-Cola chief, George Gardono, said they had not tested low-alcohol drinks yet, they were an example of testing new opportunities outside their core distribution areas.

Coca-Cola will often only offer its spirits in Japan because of its "special and unique qualities".

Coca-Cola's launch of spirits, coupled with the launch of new products such as mineral water, tea and coffee, comes after a drop in the demand for its soft drinks due to concerns about obesity.

A report released last year by International Republican Institute analysts said that sales of mineral water had risen in Britain for the first time, due to consumers' preference for healthy options.

Coca-Cola confirmed that it had no intention of reducing the sugar content of its soft drinks, because they knew that the public liked the taste of their products, but the company would in turn provide smaller bottles of size, at a higher price, to offset the impact of taxes on soft drinks.
