Blue lagoon Iceland

This is my submission for the #colorchallenge #fridayblue. I went there a couple of years ago and I really enjoyed this place, it was in Winter and getting into hot water was quite a relaxing experience. The warm waters are rich in minerals like silica and sulphur and bathing in the Blue Lagoon is reputed to help some people suffering from skin diseases such as psoriasis. The water temperature in the bathing and swimming area of the lagoon averages 37–39 °C (99–102 °F). The Blue Lagoon also operates a research and development facility to help find cures for other skin ailments using the mineral-rich water [1].

The lagoon is a man-made lagoon which is fed by the water output of the nearby geothermal power plant Svartsengi and is renewed every two days. Superheated water is vented from the ground near a lava flow and used to run turbines that generate electricity. After going through the turbines, the steam and hot water pass through a heat exchanger to provide heat for a municipal water heating system. Then the water is fed into the lagoon for recreational and medicinal users to bathe in.

Oh, have you been there? I'd love to travel to Iceland, it's on my bucket-list.

Yes, I went there a couple of years ago during winter. Totally recommended, I couldn't see too much of the waterfalls as they were frozen. But I did one of my dreams that was to take a pic of the Aurora Borealis. It wasn't very vivid because on the day there wasn't too much sun flare. I'll post it later for one of the challenges! I want to go back in Summer, it must be fabulous for flowing water pictures.
