ColorChallenge - MondayRed - A herbaceous and a poisonous red fruit
Good morning dear Steemies,
Today is red, Monday red, and I would like to introduce two plants with very spectacular red fruits.
The first one is the commonly known wild rose that blooms in April-May, and grow pretty red fruits that we call rosehips. This is a herbaceous plant, fruits are used as herbal tea. Best if the berries are frozen a bit, thus become softer. The split berries need an overnight soak in water, at room-temperature. Do not boil or scald, because the Vitamin C content will be damaged. In Hungary, rosehip jam (we call it Hecsedli) is also popular, though it has no vitamin C in it, but there are useful minerals in it.

The other plant is very decorative as an ornamental or wild bush. Its fruits are beautiful with magenta and orange colors, luring some people to taste the berries. But they are very-very sour (fortunately!!!), because they content alcaloids and other poisons that can damage liver and kidneys, and can also cause death!
Euonymus - Do not eat it!!! Very poisonous!

I love rosehips and somehow that when the beautiful bloom disappears, something ever better finds form - something healing and nourishing. Thank you for that perfect cosmic reminder this morning. :)
