Apricot is a sweet and fragrant fruit of apricot tree.
There are several legends about apricots.

One of them says that apricots are children of the sun, who did not want to live in the sky, and descended to the ground, turned into apricot trees.
Also there is a belief that the apricot tree has turned from a plum, after its fruit was tested by the Firebird.

There is an opinion that on Tebet there is a tribe of centenarians, for whom the main eat fresh apricots in the summer, and in the rest of the year they eat sun-dried fruits. If you believe the legend, such food increases the duration of a person's life. In addition, the women of these peoples at the age of 60 look 30 and full of loving longing.

There is another legend, or maybe it is a historical fact, who knows ... In 1525 one of the most famous leonardeschi (disciples and imitators of Leonardo da Vinci) - artist Bernadino Luini, been looking for nudes on the image of the Madonna to paint the mural, which ordered the church of Santa Maria del Gracia, the Italian city of Saronno. And once his choice fell on the young mistress of the hotel, which stopped the artist, it was just in front of the temple. In the process of work, feelings arose between them, but, alas, one day the separation came. In parting, "Madonna" gave Bernadino drink, personally prepared by it from apricots and almonds, which grew in her garden. Nowadays it is known as Amaretto di Saronno.

And here is a legend on biblical motives. The prophet Noah hid one single tree in the ark, it was an apricot. He hoped that when the flood was over, people would be able to enjoy the marvelous taste of this fruit. Indeed, during the flood of the world many living creatures, including plants, perished, but thanks to the efforts of Noah, the apricot remained on Earth and continues to please the people of the whole planet with their own taste.
