There is no tide to speak of in the Baltic Sea. Or of there is, it's insignificant compared to the effect of the direction of sustained winds. A strong southwesterly wind may cause the water surface to rise as a result of surface water being pushed into the Baltic from the North Sea. The opposite happens when it winds from the north or the northeast.

Yes, you are right, pretty different from here. The tide various a little around here. 3m is quite normal in the fjords where I live.
