Hindu men in religious contemplation on the steps of the Hindu Ghats near the Holy River Ganges in allahabad in eastern India. The river and the city of allahabad (also known as sangam) are regarded by Hindus as sacred.

A Hindu monk, painted his forehead with holy colors on the bank of river Ganga, at allahabad , India. It is said that sangam.is the oldest living city on earth. they are known as sadhus. Sadhus engage in a wide variety of religious practices. Some practice extreme asceticism while others mainly focus on praying, chanting or meditating.
