Geez. No wonder I used to have nightmares after reading this book! All of that darkness, doom and despair.
Or FUD.
My favorite parts: the conflict-implying mittens, and how all big cities are lumped into one representational toy house.
The pair of mittens represent human conflict and warfare through an implied link to boxing gloves, which would have been out of place in this children’s book.
The little toyhouse represents all the great cities of humanity, from New York to London to Moscow.
