RE: What's Your Understanding of Adding Value to Fellow Creators? How are you Adding Value to Others?

in #community6 years ago (edited)

Hi @elsiekjay, I believe value is subjective as well, but when we apply common sense, we can agree on some "generic" value.

For example, when @sergiomendes commented on my intro video that I should look to the camera and not to the viewfinder, that added (knowledge) value because I learnt. (I consider that by mentioning him on this anecdote, I am also adding value because he will possibly reply giving his own point of view and insight, but that could fall into the generic value)

On the other hand when someone makes a comment appreciating something about my post, it adds value in the form of gratification. Same could be said when someone removes their 1% upvote from a trail and re upvotes with a higher percentage. It shows the post was actually read, or the video was watched. This adds value not only on an appreciative level, but also on a monetary level.

There are deeper levels of value (in my opinion), for example when you pay attention to someone's post and comment in order to establish a connection, it adds value in the relationship levels.

Now, it is possible to add value by posting about things you are an expert at, and that they can be used on most of people's day to day activities. From self help, to constructive criticism.

Of course there are specific niches, I could make videos about how to create music with only a computer and free software, but this would only be valuable to those who are interested in this kind of activities.

So, I believe it's a question about what kind of value do we want to give? Generic? Or specific?

Cheers

I agree with all You have said. But I thi k we just need to have fun and enjoy the ride and stop caring with the value or quality... At least when it comes to talk about it. We just should keep creating. Believe me people will leave their opinions and tell you what they don't like. Lol it is the Internet in the end ehehe

Let's just put out there whatever we want. We are all different and we can make everyone happy ehehe

Hehehe, I have been preaching about having fun for as long as I can remember :D , I feel it makes it more relatable and brings out the real you you know I mean? If it doesn't feel ok, leave it. Great Points ;)

That's also true! @sergiomendes it's important to keep having fun, otherwise there's no point on doing anything.

For sure. That way don't work in a creative area if you are not enjoying it.
