Love me, Love me (Results)

This contest will be about love since Valentine's day is just around the corner, I think this would be a pretty good thing to write about. About a few years back, I've been told that there are several types of love and since our English language only has one term for all types of love, I want to share with you the types of love there are in the Ancient Greek language.

Eros: Love of the body

Philia: Love of the mind.

Ludus: Playful love.

Pragma: Longstanding love.

Agape: Love of the soul.

Philautia: Love of the self.

Storge: Love of the child.

I was amazed at how many details the term we so commonly use can be. This contest, this 'love story' can be anything from how you met your partner, love for your pet, love for your child etc. I'm a guy who loves the mushy stuff so I'm looking forward to getting all mushy next week when I read your entries.

Criteria :

1. Story length must be 350 words and more.(only applicable to common writing)

2. You are allowed to use images for better illustrations.

3. Create a nice story title.

4. It can be in different format. Example, poetry, a drawing/painting, a music story etc..

About a week or so later, I had to head back up to the Dover area with my best friend/college roommate, and decided to give the office supply store another looksee. This time, it was open, and we started to browse around. A very short time later, this gorgeous guy walks around the corner, with a name tag that read, "J. York" and said something like, "Can I help you ladies with something?"

I don't believe I have shared a lot about these two, but their union created yours truly. They celebrated 40 years of marriage this past August, with all of its ups and downs. I think it's a true testament to their commitment that they survived having 3 daughters (I am the middle child in case you were wondering). We definitely didn't make it easy on them, especially those pesky teenage years. I am particularly grateful that they managed to find that challenging balance of providing us with discipline, support, love and a strong work ethic. Not to mention loyalty. I am happy that as an adult I have such an open and caring relationship with each of them...

Forty-three years ago, a beautiful baby boy was borned to a not-so-well to do couple who lived moderately in a suburban city, southern part of Malaysia. Both husband and wife were not highly educated but they made just enough to live by day and by night. Not wanting to depend and rely on others, they worked hard and never complained an inch, not even to their parents or siblings. As the child grew, it became obvious to them that he was not a normal child. Four decades ago, medical practitioners were not so advanced and information was not so heavily available online as how it is today. With only basic education, there was only so much they could learn or do for their first born...
