Within the events that are often grouped into a memeplex of "conspiracy theories", there is one that is the most severe crime within the US legal system, and the other, well, not really even a crime within their legal system. So, there is from a game theory perspective an incentive to cover up the 1963 coup, and controlling peoples attention is a very good way to cover your own agendas, Machiavellian intelligence, as old as culture itself.

When people feel like there has been a crime against their system, they get angry, when they aren't allowed to be angry, they project it, and when they project it, they are ridiculed, and get angry, and project it further.
