Back in the 1980's and especially the 70's the media were real reporters, not just the corporate copy paste Reuters people we get served up now. They could genuinely investigate corruption and politicians, in fact politicians were more than fair game, and were targeted a lot. Celebrities were also not constantly rammed down peoples throats.

What changed then? Enter the building Rupert Murdoch.

To understand how Murdoch got hold of the media you have to go back to the death by drowning of one Robert Maxwell, who at the time of his drowning owned a lot of the newspapers in the west, printing companies and many other forms of the news, he also owned a half share in MTV which at the time of his death, was promoting the kind of videos we see to this day!.

Letting any 1 individual gain so much control of the news narrative is dangerous and causes the sort of consequences we are facing today, with the reality that fake news is easy to spread, when you control the media in all formats, from film to tv news, to newspapers and beyond.
